Tom engages clients with the deep knowledge needed to help family businesses navigate challenges by drawing on robust experience in leadership and organizational development, higher education administration, pastoring, counseling, and coaching. His relational approach and sense of humor build rapport with diverse groups, while his commitment to good process and solutions orientation ensures clients reach their goals.

Tom’s expertise lies in helping families find the alignment needed for them to successfully and strategically operate their business together. Tom approaches this work grounded in the belief that “how you make a decision can be as important as what decision you make,” prioritizing inclusion balanced with a systems focus.

Building on the foundation of alignment, he excels in supporting families as they apply newfound processes and relational understanding to the business work of leadership development, succession planning, and governance — all grounded in durable family harmony.

Personal

Tom lives on a small lake in Michigan with his wife, Tamara, and their dogs. A proud father, stepfather, and father-in-law, Tom brings to his work his own experiences blending a family and parenting adult children. He enjoys slow boat rides connecting with neighbors; appreciates a good cup of coffee or glass of Scotch; and loves any time spent with his five daughters and three sons-in-law.
