Robert DeAngelis

Robert DeAngelis is a consultant at The Family Business Consulting Group, with a wealth of knowledge in guiding businesses through complex legal and fiduciary matters. He specializes in strategic planning, which plays a crucial role in mapping out the future of businesses, including leadership and ownership transitions. Additionally, Robert provides valuable guidance in strategic human resources, helping to evaluate individual and organizational strengths and weaknesses.

One of Robert’s key skills lies in creating guiding documents and facilitating the establishment of effective boards and family councils within family-owned enterprises. These efforts contribute to smoother decision-making processes among family members, a vital component in achieving long-term success.

Robert’s journey in the realm of family businesses began when he joined a multi-state distribution company in the early 2000s. For over 12 years, he served as President/CEO, collaborating closely with three generations of the family as a non-family CEO. His dedication to supporting family enterprises deepened as he studied the work of John Ward, one of FBCG’s co-founders, through two Executive Education courses at Kellogg School of Management.

At the heart of Robert’s philosophy is the belief that strong leaders and thriving companies are built upon a foundation of core values. These values serve as guiding principles for making sound decisions across short, medium, and long-term horizons. Furthermore, they act as a unifying force, bringing together family and leaders, while attracting and retaining the right non-family management.

Robert attended Northwestern University for his undergraduate studies and returned home to the University of Kentucky for law school, where he began his legal career. He received recognition as an Executive Scholar in Leadership from the Kellogg School of Management in 2017.
