Rebecca Trobe

Rebecca Trobe, Psy.D., is a consultant with The Family Business Consulting Group, who works at the intersection of money and meaning, family, and leadership. With over 25 years of experience in the realm of family enterprise and organizational leadership, Rebecca brings her training and experience as a family systems clinical psychologist and executive coach to support clients in reaching their highest potential and goals for success.

Rebecca’s work focuses on the many layers and dimensions of family enterprise decision-making including governance, leadership, succession, continuity, generational transitions, the family dynamics of wealth and wealth planning/transfer of wealth, as well as developing and maintaining successful, high-performance families and cultures.

Over the years, Rebecca has devoted significant time to assisting her clients in integrating and working effectively with relational currency and capital. This has helped pave the way for them to achieve their dynamic missions and visions, as well as facilitate important cultural evolution within both their families and their organizations.

Rebecca explains: “In this work, we attend to a more comprehensive set of currencies and capital beyond the lens of only money/wealth. I find that once clients make the shift into working within a comprehensive currency model, one that includes, acknowledges, and integrates the value of relational currency, we begin to make change rather quickly.”

She is also passionate about supporting and empowering women and girls in their financial and leadership identity via investment education and giving circles as well as helping family enterprises become active players in the emerging circular and regenerative economy.

Education

  • BA in Psychology, Literature and Theater from Sarah Lawrence College
  • MA and Psy.D.(Doctorate) in Clinical Psychology, specializing in family systems, from The Wright Institute at the University of California, Berkeley

Personal

Rebecca enjoys creative writing (fiction), cooking, reading and can often be found seeing live music and theater in small, intimate venues. She is currently spending time biking, hiking, swimming, and exploring the Hudson Valley of New York, where she is returning to her roots after a fulfilling twenty years in the San Francisco Bay Area.

A little-known fact: Rebecca wrote her first climate justice novel during the pandemic and her alter ego is split between landscape designer/gardener and writing scripts (preferably long-form drama) for TV.
