Martha L. Sullivan joins The Family Business Consulting Group as a consultant specializing in transitioning ownership through business improvement, value creation and leadership development. Her experience includes helping family enterprises with exit readiness assessments, mergers and acquisitions, due diligence, strategic planning and execution, governance, and business improvement engagements. She has a blend of industry and advisory experience, having “sat on both sides of the desk.”

“One of the things that is not taught in any college or university is the power of meaningful collaboration and connection – the type that goes beyond the surface, networking type of connection and fosters deeper understanding and systems of support,” said Martha. “I knew, as an independent advisor, I had found the best team for that in joining FBCG. There’s a shared sense of purpose and teamwork and a deep wealth of knowledge and expertise.  Most importantly, there’s caring, respect and humor as we work together, challenge each other and serve our families.”

Martha’s work with family businesses started decades ago, serving as the Controller in a large family-owned, business-to-business manufacturing, distribution, and catalog company in the Midwest. She was later recruited into another family-owned catalog and wholesale enterprise as their CFO, charged with engineering a successful turnaround.

She has an in-depth understanding of team building and management, accounting and financial analysis, turn-around management, and cross-functional problem-solving skills across numerous internal and external constituencies. Having served in many financial and leadership roles as a CPA, Controller, CFO, COO and owner, Martha delivers a unique perspective on maximizing the value and transferability of private companies to her clients.

“As a strategic business advisor and former family business CFO, Martha has over her career helped hundreds of companies plan for the future and make critical decisions around business continuity and transition,” said Kristi Daeda, president of The Family Business Consulting Group. “Her work with business owners and the next generation has helped numerous families lay the foundation for a successful future. Martha’s deep expertise and supportive approach will be a great asset to FBCG and the many families we serve.”

Welcome to the team, Martha!
