Asin Lalji Nurani
Asin is a consultant with The Family Business Consulting Group specializing in governance of the overlapping family business systems. His focus is primarily in demarking the discussions in family spheres, business spheres and ownership spheres, and creating policies and processes to deal in these three systems. He supports families to create aligned visions, family values charters, family constitutions and family councils, and is able to navigate, guide and advise families towards a sustainable solution to preserve the family and the business.
He comes from a pedigree of family businesses, with extended family involvement in a myriad of industries including wheat and maize milling, steel, plastics, soap and oil, hospitality and other sectors. He has a diverse exposure and understanding of industry and manufacturing operations. As member of an extended family involved in large businesses in East Africa, he has first-hand knowledge and experience of dealing with family dynamics, with its intricacies and complexities, along with its pitfalls.
Prior to joining The Family Business Consulting Group, Asin co-owned and operated his own family business polypropylene-woven sack factory in Kenya, a hot-beverage vending business in Oman. He also was the Managing Partner in a family business advisory firm in Dubai where he advised numerous family businesses internationally.
Asin has been a guest speaker at various family business forums in the UAE. He has a diplomatic demeanor and uses his natural talent, coupled with formal training in Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) and Mediation from the Centre for Effective Dispute Resolution (CEDR) in the UK, to allow parties to come to mediated settlements
Having lived in four countries in Africa, the Middle East and North America, he has a global perspective and in-depth understanding of cultural nuances. He is passionate about working with family businesses to support the preservation of their legacies.

Asin is married with one child and has lived in Kenya, Oman, UAE and currently resides in Canada. He enjoys reading literature and historical fiction; loves public speaking; gets peace from listening to world music; and appreciates the freedom of cycling, hiking and skiing. Asin is fascinated by travel to experience cultures, landscapes, food, people, and capturing those moments in photographs. He is a lifelong volunteer for causes he believes in.
