Meet the Faculty

The following leading family business governance experts will be facilitating the program:



Stephanie Brun de Pontet, Ph.D.


Stephanie is a senior consultant of The Family Business Consulting Group specializing in advising family enterprises facing important transitions. A recognized expert on the topic of succession, Stephanie frequently collaborates with clients on key aspects of this process, such as establishing succession plans, drafting needed policies and governance structures, and building a framework for next-generation collaborations.  In addition to her consulting work, Stephanie co-authored Building a Successful Business BoardSiblings and the Family Business and Transitioning from the Top: Personal Continuity Planning for the Retiring Family Business Leader. 


Kelly LeCouvie, Ph.D.


Kelly is a senior consultant with The Family Business Consulting Group specializing in the development and assessment of corporate governance. She has worked with clients in multiple industries based in North and South America, Europe, Asia, the Middle East and the Caribbean. Kelly has worked in an advisory capacity with her family’s 60 year-old logistics company, and has personally experienced the joys and challenges of family members working together. Prior to returning to school to obtain her Ph.D., she founded and managed a securities business in Toronto for several years. 


Joe Schmieder


Joe is a principal consultant of The Family Business Consulting Group assisting family-owned organizations increase their value through the careful guidance of family succession and the resolution of complex family business issues. He is a strong advocate for incorporating innovation into family businesses, blending family and non-family execs into effective leadership teams, developing next-generation leaders, creating effective governance structures and facilitating family meetings. He is the author of the book Innovation in the Family Business: Succeeding through Generations and numerous family business articles.
